Engeli Le Roux

A bit more about Engeli .....

She started playing piano at the age of six, went to an Art School, and then furthered her studies at the University of Potchefstroom, and later the University of Pretoria to get a B. Mus Hons Degree. Whilst studying in Potchefstroom, she gained a lot of experience by accompanying other students who studied opera under Prof. Werner Nel.

1993-1994: Ballet Pianist, Tshwane University of Technology. She sight read and improvised, on the piano, for the different exercises of practical ballet classes on a daily basis.
1993-1994: Organist, Dutch Reformed Church Monumentpark, She played pipe organ at the services during the morning and evenings on Sundays. She accompanied the choir and orchestra (band) and played at weddings, funerals and other functions.

1995-1996: Piano teacher. High School Waterkloof, Taught children to play piano ages 8 to 16 years.

1997-1999: Lecturer, TOM Arts College: Taught piano, theory and aural classes for students from first to third year. Accompanied students for their practical exams.

1998-1998: Piano teacher, Primary School Louis Leipoldt. Gave piano lessons, as well as theory and aural classes according to the UNISA ( University of South Africa) standards, from pre-grade one up to grade five.

1999-2001: Ballet pianist, Pro Arte Alphen Park High School. She played everyday for practical ballet classes, which consisted of a lot of sight reading and improvisation. She also gave theory and history to the grade 10 and 11 classes.

2001-2005: Worked at the Black Tie Ensemble, with opera singers, (mainly the incubators), coaching and playing for performances. Also gave aural classes.

2006-2007:  Tswane University of Technology at the Vocal Arts Department.
2007-2011: Repetiteur for Opera Africa
2011 - present: Repetiteur for Afrikaanse Hoer Seunskool
Engeli is the best accompanist a singer could wish for, she has the ability to transpose the music as she reads it, to see her working with the artists to get them ready for the concerts is an immense pleasure
